With the current economic downturn generating a wide spread sense of doom and gloom, Cambridge Judge Business School’s Centre for International Business and Management (CIBAM) is hosting a Distinguished Panel to discuss the topical issue of “Job Mismatch and the Pursuit of Talent”.

The event is taking place at Downing College on 2 February and the panel of expert speakers will comment on the various difficulties employers are facing with matching jobs and skill sets talent and career dynamics, youth unemployment and will explore what can be done to tackle these issues.

Dr Christos Pitelis, Director of CIBAM, commented:

There is an urgent need to address the reasons behind the apparently paradoxical coexistence of high youth unemployment and severe difficulties of companies to recruit talent. The CIBAM Distinguished Panel brings in leading experts that aim to address this concern. The problem acquires additional significance in the present economic crisis that simultaneously calls for increasing business competitiveness, while engendering upward pressures to unemployment.”

The panel will be chaired by Professor Vicky Pryce, Senior Managing Director of FTI Consulting, and comprises the following field experts:

  • Dr Philip Stiles, University Senior Lecturer on Corporate Governance at Cambridge Judge Business School and Co-Director of the Centre for International Human Resource Management
  • Professor Louka Katseli, Member of the Greek Parliament, Former Secretary of State for Labour, Greece
  • Mr Stefano Scarpetta, Deputy Director, OECD, Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs
  • Professor John Philpot, Chief Economist, The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
