Cambridge Judge to support new Barclays incubator in Cambridge.
Barclays launched its first Eagle Lab Incubator on Chesterton Road in Cambridge, which is being supported by mentoring workshops and other activities of the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge Business School.
“The location of Barclays first Eagle Labs Incubator was chosen on Cambridge’s history of developing an outstanding record of business success, based on a relationship between a world-leading University and one of Europe’s top technology clusters,” Barclays said. “The Incubator will help to support that success, giving future entrepreneurs the space and opportunities to become part of the Cambridge Phenomenon.”
Barclays is partnering with the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge Business School to deliver mentoring and coaching support, key to the success of fast-growing businesses and entrepreneurs. This is another step in a partnership between the Entrepreneurship Centre and Barclays to support UK scale-ups and their founders, in order to address Britain’s “scale-up gap” identified in a recent report convened by Barclays and co-authored by Cambridge Judge and Oxford Saïd Business School.
“Scale-up UK: Growing Businesses, Growing our Economy”, led by Professor Stelios Kavadias, Director of the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge and Professor Thomas Hellmann of Oxford Saïd, examines a range of issues impacting the UK entrepreneurial ecosystem, including access to investor capital, debt and equity finance, leadership skills and business mentoring.
“We are delighted to partner with Barclays Eagle Labs and to provide mentoring and coaching support,” said Christoph Loch, Director of the School. “The combination of Cambridge Judge expertise in supporting early stage ventures with Barclays’ commitment to scale them up will provide the UK with engines of growth.”
