BBC World Service: The Inquiry

Around two million people log in to Facebook every day, but what happens with the data we provide and what does the future hold? Dr David Stillwell, University Lecturer in Big Data Analytics & Quantitative Social Science at Cambridge Judge Business School, talks about how he got involved in the data world. David created a personality app that uses Facebook: “If you have nine Facebook likes the algorithm can predict your personality as accurately as your co-worker, if you have 65 likes, computer can predict as accurately as your friend, and if you got 125 likes the computer ‘will know’ you better than your family member.”
