Seven members of the Cambridge Judge Business School faculty receive Teaching Prizes from Dean Christoph Loch for teaching excellence in a variety of programmes.

Seven members of Cambridge Judge Business School’s faculty were awarded Teaching Prizes on 15 June in recognition for their teaching excellence in a variety of the School’s programmes.

“Our teaching awards are a very important reflection of a really important part of our work,” Dean Christoph Loch said in announcing the awards. “Teaching awards are an excellent way of recognising some of the great, great work our faculty is doing.”

These are the seven members of faculty honoured, along with excerpts of remarks prepared by Christoph including some comment from participants in the honourees’ classes:

Philip Stiles.
Dr Philip Stiles
  • Philip Stiles, University Senior Lecturer in Corporate Governance, for Executive Education teaching: “Philip is highly experienced and skilful in guiding and facilitating experiential learning processes and encouraging participants to challenge existing thoughts and practices by broadening horizons and pushing boundaries.”
  • Jochen Menges, University Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour, for his teaching on the MBA programme: “His MBA elective ‘Leadership in Organisations’ has been tremendously well received with a five out of five rating for the quality of the course overall.”
  • Gishan Dissanaike, Adam Smith Professor of Corporate Governance, for MBA teaching: “Gishan is an icon on the MBA programme, teaching the MBA Corporate Finance class for over 20 years. Yet neither Gishan, nor his materials, show any signs of tiring.”

  • Kamal Munir, Reader in Strategy & Policy, for Executive MBA teaching: “Kamal’s teaching approach to executives is highly appreciated, he has great skills to combine theory with practice in an effective way.”
  • Alan Jagolinzer, Professor of Financial Accounting, for MPhil in Management teaching: “One student said, ‘I particularly appreciated his emphasis on the bigger picture, putting accounting in context and exemplifying its relevance to management and investment.’”
  • Oğuzhan Karakaş, University Senior Lecturer in Finance, for MFin and MPhil in Finance teaching: “In his first year at Cambridge Judge Business School he taught the core Economic Foundations of Finance course for the MFin. Oğuzhan got great feedback and a high score, a really great achievement.”
