“The major impact this particular conference has for Cambridge Judge Business School in particular is that it should raise its research profile. That’s what we’re aiming for. To be known as a place where serious research gets done; research which is publishable in the top academic journals in our field.”

He is optimistic that the present global economic climate could spark interesting debates and outcomes.

“In the last few years an immense amount of research has been started on areas such as financial crisis; systemic risk; how do banks adapt to this; what ‘s the optimal form of compensation? All of that is being sparked off by the financial crisis. So I believe that we will have an opportunity at the conference to see where these different areas are heading and possibly generate some more ideas.”

In terms of submissions it’s it the largest finance conference in the world, with over 1,700 papers having been submitted for consideration.

The European Finance Association (EFA) was founded in 1974 in collaboration with the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM).

This year, the 40th Annual Conference will be held at Cambridge Judge Business School on 28-31 August.
