Peter Löscher, Siemens: Never miss the opportunities that emerge from a crisis

Themes: Guest speakers, Leadership

Make the most of opportunities that arise from a crisis was the advice offered to Cambridge Judge Business School MBA students by Peter Löscher, President and CEO of Siemens.

In five years he led industrial giant Siemens out of a global bribery scandal back to the top of the worldwide sustainability tables, simultaneously winning back public trust.

The first outsider to become the company’s CEO, he explained how the scandal, the biggest in modern German history, had been harnessed to drive change.

“Never miss a good crisis; and we certainly didn’t miss ours,” Peter Löscher says in an interview for Cambridge Judge Business School’s website.

“We had the burning platform and we used it really strategically to reposition the company in a fantastic way. From a leadership culture I had to rebuild this company completely and strategically we moved it to the next level.”
