Inequality including gender-based inequality will be the subject of an upcoming issue of the journal Organization Studies, whose guest editors include Kamal Munir, Reader in Strategy & Policy at Cambridge Judge Business School.

The special issue focuses on the relationship between inequality, institutions and organisations, in order to better understand the relationship between social inequality and institutional development.

At a recent European Group for Organizational Studies conference in Athens, Munir helped convene a conference stream that encouraged papers for the special issue on a variety of topics related to inequality – including technology’s role in the persistence of inequality, devices that disguise inequality and strategies that disrupt institutionalised structures of inequality.

“Despite decades of awareness, women remain discriminated against in many organisations, leading to a perpetuation of unequal pay and severe under-representation in senior management positions,” said the journal’s call for papers on inequality issues.
