House of Lords hosts a festive 25th anniversary reception for Cambridge Judge.

'The last 25 years have been a revelation'

The House of Lords in London was the venue on the evening of Tuesday 22 September for a festive 25th anniversary reception to celebrate the entire community of Cambridge Judge Business School. Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea, CBE, DL, a member of the Cambridge Judge Advisory Board, welcomed about 250 guests as sponsoring Peer.

Cambridge Judge Director Christoph Loch expressed thanks to supporters and outlined the School’s focus on real world-oriented research and teaching. “We are developing a track record of working on projects that create value and impact, and translating our learning into scientific knowledge with clean methodology,” he told guests including alumni from around the world.

A nine-minute video shown at the event recounts the School’s origins and outlines some of the themes that have defined Cambridge Judge for its first quarter-century – including student diversity, a spirit of collaboration and inquiry, and how business can play a positive role in society.

Among those appearing in the video are alumni from the School’s early days, founding benefactor Sir Paul Judge, former Cambridge Judge Directors Professor Stephen Watson and Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, and Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

“The last 25 years have been a revelation as to what can be achieved by a business school,” Sir Leszek says in the video.

This is an ancient institution, it’s been around for 800 years, so 25 years is a bit like a blink in that lifetime. And yet in that blink we have established a world-leading business school.
