The Director of the Executive Education division of Cambridge Judge, Dr Kishore Sengupta, visits India this week to discuss a new online education collaboration with Indian firm UpGrad.

The head of the Executive Education division of Cambridge Judge Business School is visiting India this week to launch a new online education collaboration in Digital Marketing Strategies with UpGrad, an online education provider for professionals.

The visit by Dr Kishore Sengupta, Reader in Operations Management and Director of Executive Education at Cambridge Judge, includes meetings with members of the Indian media ahead of the launch of the new programme on 11 January 2018.

The 15-week programme includes lessons from Cambridge Judge faculty members as well as marketing industry practitioners. Topics include consumer psychology, digital transformation of businesses, and how incumbent firms can respond to digital disruption in marketing.

The online programme in India underlines the commitment by Cambridge Judge to expand its Executive Education offerings to new audiences in different regions of the world, building on the extensive custom and open programmes offered in Cambridge for many years.

“India is already an important region for Cambridge Judge Executive Education and that will increasingly be the case in the future,” says Kishore. “We look forward to our collaboration in India and reaching a broad range of Indian professionals in business and other organisations.”

Cambridge Judge ties with India include the Centre for India & Global Business, whose Director, Professor Jaideep Prabhu, will participate in the new UpGrad collaboration. Jaideep has written extensively about “jugaad” or frugal innovation, and how an idea that started in the developing world is now making big inroads in the West.

The Executive Education division’s experience with Indian professionals includes a custom programme begun in 2016 for principals of state schools in the state of Delhi, where there are 5,800 state-run schools educating four and a half million pupils. The school district faces many challenges, including resource constraints and an average of 2,000 pupils per school which stretches teaching time. The programme, which so far has welcomed over 90 principals, examines issues such as empowering high-performing teams, building confidence as a leader, and operating in challenging environments.

Another custom programme, for the Indian Civil Services, has welcomed over 375 Indian officials since its launch in 2012. The Indian government employs nearly six and a half million people, with fewer than 50,000 civil servants, so the five-day intensive programme looks at issues such as managing stakeholders, fostering an innovative culture, and motivation. The programme includes lessons in Cambridge and visits to UK government ministries in London.
