A team of four Cambridge MBA students won the Siam Commercial Bank Future Leader Challenge 2019, a business case competition for master’s degree students.

The team from Cambridge Judge Business School, which called themselves The Four Horsemen, competed in the final alongside three other teams. The students, all class of 2018, are Elfa Nugraha, Vishal Jain, Sebastian Kevin Sugiarto, and Kohilan Sarvanandan.

This year, 114 teams from 44 universities in 16 countries participated in the first round of the challenge, and 12 teams were selected for the semi-final: they were asked to solve a five-hour case based on Siam Commercial Bank’s digital ventures, and pitch it in just 99 seconds to a panel of venture capital investors.

Additionally, the teams were handed a 24-hour task to solve a case based on Tesco Lotus – Thailand’s largest hypermarket chain – and recommend solutions to increase the customer base and shift to a digital focus.

The Four Horsemen competed with another Cambridge MBA team in the semi-final, before qualifying to the final. Mai Sakpuaram, Abhishek Srinivasan, Amy Lai and Victor Dumitrescu were on the Cantabrigia team.

Four teams were selected for the finals and were given 20 hours to solve a case on Siam Commercial Bank’s fintech arm, recommending solutions how the company can leverage its existing resources to create a compelling customer value proposition.

The Four Horsemen were presented with the H.M The King of Thailand Award and a 100,000 Thai Baht (about £2,700) prize.

The event was held on June 29 at Siam Commercial Bank in Bangkok, Thailand, co-hosted by Sasin School of Management and Siam Commercial Bank.
