Eight members of the Cambridge Judge faculty are awarded Teaching Prizes for excellence across the School’s programmes.

Eight members of the Cambridge Judge Business School faculty were awarded Teaching Prizes on 1 July for their teaching excellence across the School’s various programmes.

“Teaching excellence is crucial to Cambridge Judge, and these teaching awards reflect the pivotal role that superb teaching plays at the Business School,” says the Cambridge Judge Dean, Professor Christoph Loch, who announced the awards at a virtual “town hall” meeting.

“We’re delighted to honour these eight faculty members and their terrific teaching through these awards, which this year also reflect the flexibility and adaptability shown by all our faculty during this extraordinary period.”

These are the eight members of faculty honoured, with excerpts from remarks by Christoph (reflecting feedback from students and others):

Shasha Lu

Dr Shasha Lu

Shasha Lu, University Lecturer in Marketing, for her teaching on the MBA programme: “Shasha is very engaging and knowledgeable, her passion for the topic also shows through. I really learnt something useful and practical about digital marketing.”

Dr Paul Kattuman.

Dr Paul Kattuman

Dr Paul Kattuman, Reader in Economics, for his teaching on the MFin programme: “Paul consistently gets good feedback and is extremely well liked by students. He teaches a challenging subject right at the beginning of the MFin programme and successfully delivers an outstanding course every year. He also has an excellent relationship with the MFin team and is very helpful in supporting the programme.”

Professor Mark de Rond

Mark de Rond, Professor of Organisational Ethnography, for his teaching on the MBA programme: “The Management Praxis II core scored a perfect five under ‘How do you rate the module’ overall question! Students commented: ‘This course is purely fantastic. Inspiring talks, real negotiations, the best module on the MBA.’”

Professor Ahmed Khwaja

Ahmed Khwaja, Professor of Marketing, Business & Public Enterprise, for his teaching on the Executive MBA programme: “Ahmed had shown an excellent teaching ability to combine theory with practice, and many students indicated that he has the great skills of reducing a very complex topic into a simplified and practical idea.”

Dr Marion Boisseau-Sierra

Dr Marion Boisseau-Sierra, University Lecturer in Accounting, and Paul Tracey, Professor of Innovation & Organisation, for their teaching on the MPhil/Tripos/MSt programmes:

“Great teaching, great slides, great engagement with students [Management Studies Tripos]. Dr Boisseau-Sierra is an extremely kind and caring instructor. You could tell she really cares about her students and wants them to take away lessons from the module into our future careers.” [MPhil in Management]

Professor Paul Tracey.

“Paul is an inspirational lecturer and researcher. He provides a lot of practical guidance and good engagement with students during the sessions [MSt]. Feedback from Paul was invaluable. Engaging class in terms of teaching, theory covered and real-world application of materials covered.” [MPhil in Innovation, Strategy & Organisation]

Shahzad Ansari.

Professor Shahzad (Shaz) Ansari & Dr Kamal Munir

Shaz Ansari, Professor of Strategy & Innovation, and Dr Kamal Munir, Reader in Strategy & Policy, for their teaching in the Executive Education programme: “Kamal and Shaz introduced this year the online Digital Disruption course delivered in collaboration with our online programme manager, Emeritus. This course was extremely well received: 97% of participants said they had an excellent or very good experience with the program overall.

“What the participants particularly liked was ‘being able to interact directly with the professors’, a key differentiator of our online programmes. They also specifically commented about:

“The ideas and content provide by Dr Kamal Munir. His ideas provided insight into the depth and breadth of the issues to be covered and essentially the prism for viewing digital disruption.

“The openness of Professor Ansari and his way of approaching the questions and his clarity of providing a wide range of examples to address them.”

Emeritus noted that this was the best-received course across those they offer, and they work with many other business schools.
